The Unesco School Group UNESChool is a research project of the UNESCO Chair headed by cand PhD Christina Keramida Papadatou, member of the Support and Research Committee of the Chair and and a teacher in 2ndary public education.
The 2022-Group is consisted of 25 students of the 1st Lyceum of the municipality of Corfu town; their main task is related to the city of Corfu and the exploitation and dissemination of cultural heritage which is a primary challenge in times of crisis of values and culture.
Art and culture are intertwined within the role and the meaning of education which is one of its main tools for the preservation, utilization and management of collective memory. Being such an important factor, the students are set to be introduced on how to record and capture important buildings of Corfu town with the special features of each architectural style as well as part of the monumental character of Corfu's cultural heritage. Upon that they are called to offer ideas and proposals for the future challenges to Corfu's tangible heritage.
ACTIVITIES
Athens, 17-20 March 2022 - The educational trip of the UNESCHooL research program of the Unesco headquarters of the Ionian University in the framework of the Research Program for the Protection of the Tangible Cultural Heritage in the UNESCool Secondary Education was successfully carried out under the guidance of the Head of the Licenced Tourist Guide and Secondary School Teacher, UNESCO Chair PhD cand Christina Keramida-Papadatou visiting characteristic monuments and museums of Athens such as the Acropolis (Parthenon, Temple of the Winged Victory, Erechtheum) and the Museum of Acropolis, Ancient Agora, Arios Pagos Hill, Hill of the Nymps, Temple of Olympian Zeus, Panathenaic Stadium, Archaeological Museum).
