Today's complex environment is characterized by unprecedented upheavals in everyday life in a way that directly affects the citizen. Dealing with such issues requires a long-term planning of at least twenty years, even at the level of local communities such as Corfu. With these concerns, the Ionian University, the TEE/TK (Technical Chamber of Greece, Corfu Section) and the PEDIN (Regional Union of Municipalities of the Ionian Islands) are co-organizing a Scientific Conference on the islands of Corfu and Paxos.
The purpose of the Conference is to create the basis for a long-term planning of at least two decades in depth, focusing on the quality of life of the residents as well as economic development. Areas of interest such as culture, education, environment, health along with economic activities are just some of the many elements that make a place attractive to its residents. In addition to the others, the latter is a basic condition for the place to be attractive for the visitor as well, which is particularly important for a sustainable tourist economy.
